the artist

Linny Kenney is the owner of Linny Kenney Leather, a leather design studio specializing in high-end chef knife rolls and custom guitar straps.

She attended PSU on a talent grant where she earned her B.A. in Music (Vocal Performance). She went on to continue her study of Classical and Musical Theater vocal styles at the Neil Semer Vocal Institute in Coesfeld, Germany and New York City.

After many years training and performing as a musician, Linny began developing herself as a visual artist and moved from painting with oils on canvas to painting and etching onto her own leather creations. Linny apprenticed with “Chief Talking Beard”, a master leather worker, in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2007. Chief Talking Beard ran his leather business in British Columbia and later in Los Angeles, CA in the late 60’s and early 70’s and graciously handed down many of his out-of-production solid brass buckles to Linny. Her love of music pours into every guitar strap and her appreciation and love for food well made pours into every chef’s roll.

Littleton, NH is currently the home of Linny Kenney Leather where custom chef knife rolls, guitar and bass straps, bags, belts, wallets, cuffs, and various other fine leather goods are hand crafted. After a 3,700 mile solo horseback ride with her beloved horse, Sojourner, and her friend, Walter, in the support truck, the shop uprooted from its previous California home and settled in to a lovely little place on the Ammonoosuc river.

The ride, which began on On March 1st, 2010, started in Los Angeles, California and ended 8 months and 14 days later in Bath, New Hampshire. The entire adventure was documented on Linny’s ride blog at Many of Linny’s creations like the “wildflower belt” and flower cuffs were envisioned while slowly riding through the West’s incredible terrain in the Spring.

Most of Linny’s work is custom and very personal to the client. The process involves a lot of communication between the client and Linny to create exactly what is envisioned. Please visit the “contact” page to correspond with Linny directly about your design ideas.
